The Supreme Audit Office, as the highest financial and accounting inspection body in the country, has a lifespan of about a century. This office was the highest audit authority that was established in 1300 AH under the title of “Court of Assessment” according to the regulations and basic structures of the Government of Afghanistan. This office has gone through a period of time under different names and has evolved over a century. Until in 1398 AH, according to the decree of the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, it was once again called the “Supreme Audit Office”. Recently, as a result of the efforts of the leadership of this office, fundamental changes have been unveiled in the formation of this office, which can be implemented after obtaining the purpose of the high position of the presidency. The formation of this department is such that the head of the Supreme Audit Office is out of rank in the structure of the post office and at the head of it is the head of the Supreme Audit Office.
