About Us

About Save the Children

We have been working in Afghanistan since 1976 to make a positive difference in the lives of children across the country. We work closely with children, parents, teachers, village councils, religious leaders, ministries, non-governmental organizations and other relevant institutions.

We continue to provide education by ensuring that girls and boys go to school. Our programs provide opportunities for children who have dropped out of school to provide access to community-based learning opportunities so that they can enter the formal education system. We continue to work with the government to provide quality education.

We provide quality health and nutrition services to help children survive, especially in humanitarian structures.

We help build and strengthen the capacity of health workers and support health teams.

Together with our partners, we strive to protect children from all forms of violence. Our activities focus on reducing violence against children, including physical violence and punishing humiliation at school and at home. We continue to support and protect children who are particularly vulnerable, such as girls, internally displaced children, returnees, and children affected by war. Our programs focus on sustainable litigation and communication efforts aimed at ensuring public awareness and the implementation of children’s rights.
