As Afghanistan now transitions to a new chapter, immediate support to recovery and stabilization is paramount considering the needs of the displaced, refugees, poor and vulnerable households, women, and youth. In order to exit the current food crisis, there is an urgent need to assist people and communities to rebuild sustainable livelihoods with adequate and resilient essential infrastructure services. With the scope of the UN’s Transitional Engagement Framework for Afghanistan, the UN has established a Special Trust Fund for Afghanistan (STFA), serving as an inter-agency mechanism to enable donors/development partners to channel resources and coordinate support for an Area-Based Programming strategy (ABADEI).
