Afghanistan recently completed the construction of Salma Dam which is located 162 km upstream of Herat. To provide water to the Heart city and rural areas. Irrigation and 42 MW of hydropower. The dam was originally constructed in 1976, but was damaged during the civil war. In 2003 again this important projects funded by India Government and completed in 2015 and named by (Bandi Doosti Aghan Hind).
