UNHCR Afghanistan works with Afghan Government to better serve the vulnerable communities in Khost and Paktika. In order to provide support to local government officials responsible for responding to the refugee population, UNHCR Afghanistan is recruiting three staff members (on HR contract) who will be seconded to the Department of Returnees and Repatriation in Khost.
The Community-Based Protection Specialists report to the Community-Based Protection Team Leader. Under the supervision of the Assistant Field Officer and the overall direction of the UNHCR Field Unit Kabul, and in close coordination with DoRR and the Governor’s Office in Khost, as well as UN agencies, NGO partners and other stakeholders, the Community-Based Protection Specialist works directly with communities of concern to identify the risks they face and to leverage their capacity to protect themselves, their families and communities. The incumbents will serve as the focal points to plan, design, implement and monitor PSN activities in the field, as well as broader community initiatives.
