Job Description:

Scope of work:

The Orthopedic Workshop Supervisor is the manager and technically responsible person for all the activities of Orthopedic/ component workshops. He/she is responsible to coordinate the planning, budgeting, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting of the workshops work and other affairs. All activities will be carried out in close collaboration with the Physical Rehabilitation Senior Supervisor.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To overall supervise all staff in the orthopedic Workshop/Component Workshop
  • To oversee and guide the implementation of Orthopedic/Components workshop daily activities in the Physical rehabilitation,
  • To supervise the output of the Orthopedic technicians (orthotic and Prosthetic)/CW technicians (carpenter, welders, joints producers, injection machines technicians) and make sure that all the production is of high quality and in line with needs of disabled people.

Technical Tasks:

  • To be the essential member of the new patient assessment team
  • To ensure quality of the assistive devices and components, orthosis and prosthesis,
  • To advise and assist the physical rehabilitation senior supervisor and project manager as well as KMO DP with technical consultation in Orthopedic workshop matters,
  • To be able to lead the group of technicians in the sections of Orthopedic and component workshops for quality production,
  • To assess the work plan for productions and arrange the timetable for distribution of work to the technicians according to the diagnosis of disability
  • Develop budget, work plan and reports required by the project,
  • To assist the Disability programme management unit in preparation of the annual standard list of material needed for the running of Orthopedic & Component Workshop,
  • Responsible to check and follow up the related store and make procurement demands in time to Logistic Officer at RMO and for technical request in collaboration with the Disability programme management unit
  • Lead innovation and facilitation into devices producing at the workshops.
  • Provide Constructive feedback and back up support to each technician in each CW section as required.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications & Job Requirements:

  • BSc. Orthopedic technology, or CAT I in orthopedic technology, or CAT II with higher experience in orthopedics,
  • 3-4 years’ relevant experience, especially within an NGO, UN agencies or similar organization. 6 years of experience in orthopedic technical practices for CAT II, team leading, and management experience is required.
  • Computer skill at operator level, especially with MS Office packages.
  • Fluency in English and Dari and/or Pashto, both written and spoken
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Team worker, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience of planning, reporting and budgeting
  • Ability and willingness to travel to the project sites within Afghanistan and adjust to SCA environment.
  • Honest, proactive, and well mannered.
  • To be Afghan National.
