About Enabled Children Initiative:
The Enabled Children Initiative (ECI) is an independent charity organization in the United Kingdom, and as a 501(c)(3) in the USA with a charity branch in Afghanistan (number 465). ECI supports children with disabilities in Afghanistan. ECI supports children in Afghanistan with disabilities through residential, educational and income generation support for families.
The Campaign Program Manager will be in charge of managing the campaign, and coordinating with our partners involved in implementing this project. This position is based in Kabul. The Campaign Program Manager will report to the Country Director and liaise and work closely with our partners. Responsibilities include:
Managing all components of the National Public Awareness Campaign, including:
Oversight and coordinating of outputs with our mass media production partner;
Oversight and coordinating of outputs with partners engaged in delivering provincial-based and grassroots outputs;
Liaising with the program’s Advisory Council, including organizing regular meetings, and keeping and distributing meeting minutes and notes;
Helping to recruit and manage the program’s network of six disability ambassadors across the country;
Planning and implementing a national-level advocacy campaign that would include a series of meetings and discussions on disability with influencers and policymakers in government, NGO and private sector;
Assist the Country Director and Executive Director with tracking and monitoring project outputs, and collecting and packaging information, updates, and photos for donor reports;
Tracking program outputs against the implementation plan and making sure the program is on track;
Assisting the Country Director and Executive Director with financial reporting and accounting related to the program;
Attending to other general managerial, administrative and logistical tasks related to program operations as they may arise;
Attend meetings with government, donor and partner organizations, as needed.
ECI will be undertaking a national public awareness campaign over the next three years to inform people in communities across Afghanistan about disability, and in particular to help break down the stigma against persons, particularly children, with disabilities. Through this campaign, the objective is to start a national dialogue about disability in Afghanistan that aims to motivate positive behavior change that results in a more level-playing field for children with disabilities and a greater understanding and acceptance of disability across the country. The target audience of the campaign will be the nearly 5.7 million families across Afghanistan who have a child with a disability. ECI will undertake the campaign via two platforms, 1) grassroots within families and communities, and 2) also at the provincial and national level through an advocacy and mass media public awareness component.
The candidate should have the following:
At least 3 years experience working in media, production, or communications, preferably with prior experience working in public relations;
Exceptional managerial, organizational, analytical and interpersonal communication skills;
A university degree in a related field;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office softwares;
Experience working with persons with disabilities; or in the disability rights, child rights, or human rights sectors;
Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto and proficiency in English;
Proficient in report-writing skills.
