Background
Cure Hospital is a charitable foundation dedicated to meeting the medical needs of economically disadvantaged patients and their families. The purpose of Cure Hospital, Kabul is to provide excellent health services and training in the health provision. Cure Hospital has been present in Afghanistan since February 2005. We have training programs in Family medicine, OB/GYN, pathology, and general surgery all of which are recognized by the MOPH.
Purpose:
Responsible for the delivery of high quality midwifery care through modeling, education, observation, crisis intervention, problem solving, clear communication and team work with department staff. Monitor and maintain compliance with the physician orders, midwifery policies and procedures.
Midwives are the core of the Maternity Ward at Cure Hospital. Midwives are a part of the OBGYN team, which includes midwives, Resident Physicians and OBGYN Fellows.
Job Description:
Main Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the values, policies and procedures of Curel Hospital
- Treat the patients with respect, honoring their choices and listening to their concerns
- Speak gently with and educate patients about their condition, course of treatment, warning signs and what they should do
- Stay on-duty until the relieving shift arrives and has been fully updated
- Keep patients’ medical records thoroughly and accurately up to date and filed neatly
- Diagnose labor in new patients and admit as appropriate
- Completely fill out Labor Admission forms for new patients, and order appropriate labs
- Manage labor, which includes admitting patients, taking vitals, pelvic exams to assess labor progress, fetal heart rate monitoring and charting on the partograph
- Contact Resident and OB Doctor immediately for consultation for slow progress, risk factors, abnormalities, complications and emergencies
- Conduct normal vaginal deliveries, which include starting IVs, delivering the baby using sterile technique, managing third stage with routine IM oxytocin, suturing lacerations and charting on the Partograph and Labor and Delivery Summary.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from approved Bachelor Midwifery Program certified by Afghanistan MOPH or MOHE.
- Applicants must be registered with Afghanistant Nursing and Midwifery council
- Two positive references from previous employers or educators.
- Speaking by Afghanistan official languages
- Strong written and verbal English skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work well with others in a team environment
