Job Description:

General Purpose of the Job:

The midwife will work in the MHT or HSC to predominantly manage to follow-up the pregnant patients (from antenatal to postnatal cares) and manage delivery cases in Sub Health Center.

She assumes responsibility and accountability for their practice, applying up to date knowledge and skills in caring for each patient and family. She works as a member of team that includes all staff of Sub Health Center.

Job Description 

 

  • Provide counselling of pregnant women on danger signs of pregnancy, mother nutrition, preparedness for delivery, pregnancy care services including ante-natal care (ANC, treatment of infection and other basic problems during pregnancy.
  • Perform Postnatal Care (PNC) and Neonatal Care (NNC) services to postpartum women and their newborn as well as advice to mothers on breastfeeding, mother nutrition, prevention of infection.
  • Provide mother and child nutrition counselling for lactating mothers including exclusive breast feeding for children 0-5 months and addition of supplementary food for children ages 5-24 months.
  • Offer family planning counselling and services to preconception women with specific focus on modern contraceptive methods Work in collaboration with the mobile team members to achieve CARE, and Moph goal.
  • Reports to Medical doctor in about Sub Health Center.
  • encouraging mothers to child vaccination
  1. General knowledge of International Medical Corps code of conduct and ethics
  • Maintain and promote positive relationships with beneficiaries, Ministry staff, and colleagues
  • Respect all IMC rules and procedures including IMC security rules
  • Respect medical ethics Maintain and promote positive relationships with colleagues

Safeguarding policy for Staff:

  • Respect and follow International Medical Corps Safeguarding policy and never neglect, abuse, harm and exploit children, young people, and adult at risk,
  • Report any actual or suspicious harm to the children and vulnerable adult caused by staff and program.

 

Job Requirements:

  1. Garduated from Midwifery reconized institute or University.
  2. The candidate should have 2-years experience as Midiwfe with international or national NGOs.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, with a range of individuals and groups.
  4. Patient counselling and advice.
  5. Preference will be given to local candidates.

  • Previous management experience
  • Leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Accountable, able to work in a  multicultural environment
  • Excellent listening skills
