Summary of Key Functions
Build LSCBE teachers and students’ capacity through conducting various training sessions and support on nutrition, dietary habits, personal and environmental health.
Carry out health education, monitoring and supervision of health interventions in Lower Secondary Community Based (LSCBE) classes.
Provide health education materials for students and teachers.
Conduct awareness raising compaign to communities about environmental health and self-hygiene.
Collect school and training data and assist Project M&R Officer in data analysis and interpretation and report development.
Maintain good working environment among adolescent girls and build their knowledge about physical, mental, emotional and social health.
Report to the Project/Field Supervisor.
Collaborate with Project M&R Officer, Teacher Trainer, Community Mobilizer, Technical Advisor and other project staff and staff from other projects.
Contribute to all new initiatives and data collection for education and gathering relevant data and information.
Key Results Expected
The Health Education Officer works directly with communities and Provincial and District Education Departments of Ministry of Education (MoE) for establishment of CBE classes and project implementation.
Environmental health and self-hygiene to students and School Management Committees:
Provide self and environmental hygiene and health on the job and in person trainings for adolescent and upper primary girl’s students and teachers in the project target communities.
Provide vital input in short- and long-term plan related to health education component at CBE level to ensure ultimate project outcomes are met.
Set weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly goals for LSCBE teachers as well students, and providing advice and guidance to ensure these goals are met.
Undertake regular visits to the project classes to ensure and build girls students awareness and understanding on health and hygiene.
Assess and evaluate health education activities to bring positive change in the life of students and communities.
Maintain good working relations with Provincial Public Health Department PPHD and other relevant organization.
Capacity Building of principals and teachers’ as per the project training program:
Undertake students, teachers and SMC training need assessment to identify their basic health needs and alter the pre-developed plan on health and hygiene.
Conduct health trainings to the LSCBE teachers and post monitoring of the topics cascading to adolescent and upper primary students.
Observe classroom Behaviour Communication Changes (BCC) and provide on the job training for students to effectively exchange health and hygiene lesson learned among themselves.
Assess the health training after each quarter to see the weakness, strength and effect of activities.
Develop training aid materials;
Participate in PPHD training for self-capacity development.
Assist with TA in providing and revision of health education manuals.
Ensure and strengthen mutual respect between students and teacher and consider child protection and child safety is maintaining inside the classroom and community.
Data Collection and M&E:
Collect and compiles school and training sessions’ related data.
Assist Project M&R Officer in data analysis and interpretation.
Submit accurate and proper monitoring, supervision, training, observation, and other
relevant reports to the project supervisor in timely manner.
Assist Project Supervisor in the development of the final versions of various reports.
Disseminate relevant information to SMC, teachers and students.
Other relevant duties and tasks:
Assist Project/Field supervisor in setting project and Individual Goal setting.
Assist Project/Field Supervisor in developing project implementation and action plans, operation budget, and reports.
Make sure implementation of child protection and gender across CBE classes.

Willingness to work in rough field conditions and tough security situation;

Skills and Experience:
Very good training skills, good communication skills in national languages and fair level of written and spoken English.
Graduate from medical institutions-at lease 14th grade graduate, but University Degree holder from Medical University is preferred.
At least four years working experience in medicine and education preferably with an international organization.
Fluency in written and spoken Dari and Pashto languages, English will be an advantage.
