Scope of work:

The EPI Officer will be Provide reliable, accurate and timely information and reports for planning and decision making purposes and responsible for the effective coordination of EPI services to the RHDO provincial team for implementation of BPHS to Assess quality of reported data on EPI services and provide feedback in monthly, quarterly and annually as well as will support to the planning, implementation, coordination and monitoring of EPI programs and attending coordination meetings when required.


  • To Provide reliable, accurate and timely information and reports for planning and facilitate and strengthening the quality of BPHS through implementing of EPI standard tools in the coverage health facilities
  • To timely compile, analyses and interpret EPI data with M&E/HMIS Officer and information received from health facilities and ensure the quality of EPI data collection in terms of consistency and accuracy and systematic joint supportive supervision with constructive feedback and follow up action plan from health facilities
  • To ensure and adherence to establishing well-organized monthly coordination meetings In charge of HFs, PPHD and partners and follow up of decision has been made in the monthly meetings
  • To ensure good communication and coordination among EPI in HFs, HPs and other implementing partners and key stakeholders pertaining implementation and reporting system maintained and strengthened in the BPHS health facilities as well as MHNTs


  • Preparing Weekly, monthly and quarterly action plan progressive reports according to the BPHS work plans and ensure the timely implementation
  • To ensure EPI services outlined in BPHS document is provided through all health facilities and health posts
  • To act as EPI focal point and represent RHDO in any related training, workshop, meetings and etc
  • Improve and enhance the cold chain system and regular supply and EPI services (Fixed and Outreach) in all health facilities and health post
  • Accountable to include possible technical inputs to other BPHS components during field supervision and official assignments that are directly or indirectly related to the health care of population with vaccination status and overall project performance
  • Maintain effective coordination and communication with REMT/PEMT and PPHD of the province (attending all PPHD taskforce meetings, active participation in NIDs)
  • To provide on the job training to the health facility staff and CHWs on EPI services required by BPHS
  • Conduct refresher and initial training to build the capacity of staff of health facilities, CHWs and CHSs and vaccinators
  • Support the Health Facilities and Health Posts in proper application of EPI Package in line with BPHS Standards
  • Support the project management team on EPI in adopting a supportive supervision approach in BPHS health facilities and Health Posts
  • Following up of monitoring of action plans of external monitors including the PPHD, MoPH and other partners
  • Facilitate recruitment of the EPI staff in health facilities in collaboration with other officers
  • Identify, solve or refer the problems of EPI with PEMT and related Partners and departments as required
  • Improve the links of referral system in the different level of the health facilities (HP, SC, BHC, CHC and Hospital)
  • Participate actively in EPI related coordination meetings, workshops at provincial or national level
  • Evaluate the EPI staff training needs and look for the opportunities for building their capacity at facility or provincial level
  • Supervise the EPI services jointly with PPHD and other partners in the health facilities with constructive feedback and follow up action plan
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by line supervisor

Job Requirements:

  • Afghan National
  • Medical Doctor (MD), preference will be given to the candidates with post graduate degree
  • At least 5 Years’ work experience in relevant positions with government or non-government organization, UN Agencies or other development organizations
  • Priority will be given to local candidates from Herat province, specially currently working or has working experience in Herat BPHS project
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English language and fluent in a local language;
  • Demonstrate computer skills (Ms. Office Package).
  • Ability to work under pressure, flexible and able to multi-task,
  • Ability to create a supportive working relationship with all project teams
  • Be able to travel all districts/health facilities as well as outside of province
