Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR Japan) was found in 1979 in Tokyo, Japan. It is active in 15 countries including Afghanistan in various humanitarian aid programs.
AAR Japan set up its Afghanistan office in Kabul in January 2002.
During its 20 years’ commitment in Afghanistan, AAR Japan has been conducting Explosive Ordinance Risk Education (EORE) awareness activities, providing assistance for people with disabilities and conducting emergency assistance projects.
AAR Japan’s Explosive Ordinance Risk Education (EORE) Program, in coordination with the Directorate of Mine Action Coordination (DMAC) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), started in October 2003 in Afghanistan to develop media materials suited for use within the Mine Action Program for Afghanistan (MAPA) national activities and Community Based Mobile Cinema Projects throughout Afghanistan.
Today, AAR Japan conducts Emergency Food Assistance, Explosive Ordinance Risk Education and Disability Awareness Project with financial assistance from Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Japan and Japan Platform (JPF) and funds raised by general people of Japan.
