Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be:
- Citizens of countries outside of the People’s Republic of China
- In good mental and physical health
- Under 35 for master’s programs, under 40 for doctoral programs
- Have Chinese proficiency of HSK Level 4 or above for Chinese-taught programs
- Applications from the Q.S. World University Rankings Top 500 or ARWU Top 500 universities are most welcome

- GRE scores are recommended but not required

- Study Plan Proposal of more than 1,000 characters or words
- Two letters of recommendation from professors or associate professors

Selection Process of the Chinese Government Scholarship
The selection process for the Chinese Government Scholarship includes the following steps:

- Finalists’ documents submitted to CSC for eligibility and academic performance examination.
